Soleil Levant | Claude Monet

Claude Monet
Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant)
1872

It's a picture that represents the dawn: what he wanted to bring out the author was the first impression he had before this time of day.
In the background the sun appears like a fireball in the fog, the sea where the water reflects the colors of dawn.
In the foreground there is only the dark shape of a small boat. In the background, shrouded in mist and smoke, can glimpse the shadows of some chimneys.
It 'a framework in which colors prevail bodied, orange and blue dominate and, in part, the green mixed with blue water, the light is a bit' blurred, because the sun is not up yet.
It 'a picture is revolutionary because it does not landscape but the sensation it provokes the landscape itself.
